- Apollo 11 VR, to relive the history of this giant leap for humanity
- Apollo 11 VR is also interactive
Apollo 11 is arguably the most famous space mission in history. For the first time, a man trod the lunar soil. This feat, broadcast live on television, captured the attention of millions of people and made many children dream. Overtaken in the conquest of Space by the USSR, the United States had to react. In 1961, President John F. Kennedy gave a historic speech promising to land a safe crew on our satellite before bringing them back to earth. After 8 years of work and experiments, NASA sent two men to the moon in July 1969. Apollo 11 VR invites you to relive this episode which ended the rivalry between the USA and the USSR in the conquest of Space.
Apollo 11 VR, to relive the history of this giant leap for humanity
Apollo 11 VR lets you relive this moment in history through the eyes of the astronauts who completed the NASA mission. Combining both the educational, scientific and interactive aspect, the application is much more than a simple documentary, it is a real experience in immersion in the skin of a mission astronaut. The reproductions are faithful to what the mission was in the late 60s.
Apollo 11 VR is based both on archival images and original recordings, but also on a faithful reconstruction, in synthetic images, of what life was like on board the rocket and the conquest of the moon. The designers of the experiment deliberately chose the greatest fidelity in the reconstruction in order to offer the user the opportunity to relive exactly what the mission was, which lasted a total of 195 hours including 21 hours and 30 minutes on the ground of our satellite.
Apollo 11 VR is also interactive
Apollo 11 VR is not just a simple documentary but also aims to be fun and interactive. The application offers you two possibilities either a kinematic mode or an interactive mode. In this second mode, you will be able, like a video game, to take control of the ship and command the module.
It's up to you perform the moon landing, descend the ladder and take the first step on the ground but also explore the lunar soil and deploy scientific equipment. Last step, to complete the return to earth. Apollo 11 VR is available on HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR.
