The main tour de force of Dreamworld is to have succeeded in developing an augmented reality product with a small team of 10 people and a fundraiser of only $ 2 million. A misery compared to the teams who worked on Hololens glasses, the star recruits of Apple, or even the colossal budget of Magic Leap or that of Meta.

The other feat of Dreamworld Glass is to be able to offer a very affordable price where the competition reserves its products for professionals. The Chinese start-up's augmented reality glasses are indeed announced under $ 350, a very affordable consumer price. Our American colleagues from the “Upload VR” newspaper had the opportunity to visit the Dreamworld premises and discover the product or, to put it better, the products because two prototypes are currently under study. Our colleagues, however, were not allowed to take pictures of the prototypes of Dreamworld Glass.

Dreamworld Glass: AR glasses that work with a smartphone

According to our American colleagues, Dreamworld is currently developing two prototypes of its AR glasses. One smaller and lighter than the other and the second with positioning sensors. The start-up's engineers ensure that the final product will be closer to the first prototype. Glasses smaller than those of the competition, also lighter. Dreamworld Glass glasses connect to a smartphone running Android via a simple USB-C cable.

Our colleagues from “Upload VR” were able to test the product, still in prototype state. According to them, in some respects, Dreamworld Glass is more impressive than some competitor products but for the moment suffers from positioning problems. A defect on which Chinese engineers will seriously work. Dreamworld Glass eyewear should start to be marketed from this summer, on a limited basis and be, initially, reserved for certain markets. The price will be less than $ 350, a real goal for the start-up that truly wants to democratize AR technology and make it accessible to everyone.
