Facebook to unveil its VR news with an online mini-GDC

Summary

The Game Developers Conference (GDC) was canceled a few days ago, like a lot of events these days. Supposed to participate, Facebook has decided to organize its conference on the net instead. Scheduled to last for three days, the American giant will unveil the new games expected on the Oculus platform. Some announcements will concern games already available on its headsets. Without forgetting the next titles that will join the catalog.

So, from March 16 to 19, Facebook will update the Oculus blog with articles and videos which will detail what owners of Oculus headsets can expect in terms of games. There will therefore be announcements for a few games already released such as Pistol Whip or Beat Saber which should receive additional content. In addition, this will be an opportunity for future games available for Quest and Rift to show off. This is the case for The Room VR: A Dark Matter, Phantom: Covert Ops or even Lies Beneath. On the other hand, it is not possible to know if Facebook will take the opportunity to unveil new licenses or exclusives.

Workshops for developers

On the last day, March 19, Facebook will upload three videos for developers and anyone interested in tools to create virtual reality experiences for Oculus Quest or Rift. The subject of each of these videos is already known. Indeed, they will give, among other things, advice on how to properly launch games on the Oculus platform, and will emphasize what multiplayer can bring to virtual reality.

Some of our colleagues also think that Facebook could start preparations to celebrate Quest and Rift S birthdays in May. This could translate into promotions on games or even hardware. If the latter is unlikely, it is always allowed to dream. All the info from March 16 to 19 on the Oculus blog.
