Also called the Second Battle of Flanders, the Battle of Passchendaele which took place between July 31, 1917 and November 6 ended in an important victory for the Allied forces but the losses were terrible especially on the British side. According to historians, around 250.000 British soldiers lost their lives in this battlefield in Belgium or were wounded, as well as 8.500 French and 4.000 Canadians. German side, the toll is 260.000 dead or wounded soldiers. The number of missing soldiers (drowned in mud) is estimated at 40.000. This tragic battle which has just celebrated its centenary must not be forgotten. This is why the association "The Royal British Legion" wishes to revive its memory through ten short 360-degree films that can be viewed with a virtual reality headset.. These immersive films retrace the context of this battle, its history and the horror of the fighting. The conditions were terrible for all the belligerents.
10 360-degree films to relive the Battle of Passchendaele
Like the application that allows young Japanese people to relive what happened in Nagasaki in 1945, the British association "The Royal British Legion" has created a series of 10 virtual reality videos for the terrible battle of Passchendaele does not fall into oblivion and that the younger generations remember the sacrifice of their elders.
