- Oculus Store: Games can now be refunded within 14 days
- Oculus Store: refund requests will be processed within 5 days maximum
Just like the original version of Steam, the SteamVR platform offers a refund policy to its users. Games purchased on SteamVR can be fully refunded within 15 days of purchase, provided they have not been used for more than 2 hours. Thus, users of the HTC Vive headset, compatible with Steam VR, are free to try all the games and software on the platform and be reimbursed without having to justify their decision if they are not satisfied.
Oculus Store: Games can now be refunded within 14 days
However, until now, no refund policy was offered by the Oculus Store app store for the Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR. At this level, Rift and Gear VR users were therefore at a disadvantage compared to Vive owners. Certainly, it is possible to use Steam VR games on Oculus Rift, and therefore try the games by purchasing them on Steam, but this remedy is somewhat tortuous. In addition, on Gear VR, absolutely no option allowed you to be reimbursed following a disappointing purchase.
Anyway, this inequality is now corrected thanks to the implementation of a refund policy on the Oculus Store. From now on, in the event of an unsatisfactory purchase, users can enjoy a full refund without giving a reason. As on Steam VR, the refund request for Oculus Rift applications must nevertheless be made within 14 days of purchase, and the user must not have played for more than 2 hours. On Gear VR, the delay is even shorter since the request must be made a maximum of three days after purchase, and after less than thirty minutes of use.
Oculus Store: refund requests will be processed within 5 days maximum
La Oculus Store refund policy applies to games, apps, and many experiences. On the other hand, films, bundles, content acquired within a bundle, or additional content purchased within an application is not taken into account. It is therefore preferable to verify that a software is refundable before purchasing it to try it out.
According to Oculus, the refund request should generally not take more than 5 days to be investigated, verified and taken care of. However, it will probably take a few extra days for the money to actually be paid into the user's account. Note also that refund requests must be made from the device on which the content was purchased. This constraint aims to prevent someone to whom you have lent your password from making money by reselling all your games.
