Summary

With Trinus VR, it is possible to play any PC game in virtual reality without having to invest in a VR Ready PC and a high-end headset like the Oculus Rift or the HTC Vive. Thanks to a conversion system, it is possible to transform all PC games into VR games for smartphones. Concretely, Trinus displays the screen of your Windows computer on the screen of your Android smartphone in VR mode. The software also creates a fake 3D effect for games that don't natively support 3D. These games can then be streamed using a smartphone virtual reality headset such as the Google Cardboard.

How to Solve Major Trinus VR Problems

The Trinus VR project is still in development. Therefore, many bugs remain, and performance is not always there. Here are the main problems you might face, and how to fix them.

Wireless connection is not working

For many users, the wireless WiFi connection does not work. It is therefore essential to prepare a USB cable to use in case of need.

Games do not launch in VR mode

The game engine must support stereoscopic 3D or VR for Trinus VR to be able to convert. Otherwise, Trinus uses its Fake 3D technology to force SBS stereoscopic display. Some games, however, cannot be forced to display in 3D. If you encounter this situation, you will need to use a third-party application like Vireio or Vorpx to play incompatible games in VR.

Content is not displayed correctly

Each headset compatible with the Cardboard platform is equipped with lenses with different properties, which will not always be detected by Trinus VR. Therefore, the content may not be displayed correctly. Presets are available for several popular devices like the VR One, Freefly, Homido, but for some helmets, it will be necessary to make the settings manually. You can make advanced settings from the PC application, and see changes in real time on your smartphone screen.

Head Tracking is not working properly

Head tracking problems are related to hardware limitations. To remedy, you can try the different capture modes offered in the advanced settings of Trinus VR. If the image tends to vibrate, you can try the Sensor Jitter Filter option. Also remember to calibrate your phone's sensors and make sure there is no magnetic interference nearby.

Developer Trinus VR has recently offered an unofficial driver for playing SteamVR games on PlayStation VR. Thanks to Trinus PSVR, PSVR users can access all games in the SteamVR catalog from a PC.

The Trinus PSVR driver for Windows, very easy to install, allows you to use the Sony VR headset on a PC. The software mimics the communication between HTC Vive and the computer, and allows access to Valve's virtual reality content library, SteamVR.

Head tracking is of course supported. On the other hand, the driver is not yet compatible with motion tracking via the Sony helmet camera. This is the main drawback of this solution. Without a camera, the PlayStation Move controllers also cannot be used. Many developers are actively working to resolve this issue right now. Note also that Trinus PSVR can only run games at a frequency of 60hz.

The PC compatible PSVR thanks to Trinus PSVR

The user experience of SteamVR games on PSVR with Trinus PSVR is similar to that of SteamVR games launched on Oculus Rift DK1. Of progress is still to be made, but this driver significantly expands the size of the catalog of PlayStation VR compatible games.

In the eyes of many users, the PSVR is considered the most comfortable of the VR headsets. It also doesn't have to be ashamed in terms of image quality and screen accuracy.
