Founded in 2018, Hypergiant Industries is an American company with offices located in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Seattle and Washington DC. The goal of its CEO, Ben Lamn, is improve the safety of the military, police, firefighters and first aid workers.

To do this, the firm created Project Orion: an augmented reality headset designed to provide soldiers and other emergency responders the tools you need to stay safe when working in a hazardous environment.



This headset uses augmented reality to superimpose virtual information on top of real world images. In particular, it makes it possible to automatically detect and classify shapes and objects, or to highlight or hide certain elements.

THE5K definition screen offers a 200 degree field of view. It is possible to opt for different display modes, and hand-tracking is provided in the same way as gesture controls. Thanks to different on-board sensors and a connection to different data sources, it can also collect information. Finally, it is possible to connect the helmet to different data sources such as GPS or mission briefings.



Still at the prototype stage, Project Orion could however be marketed from 2020. This device could be of great help to the military, the police and the rescuers, and we can hope that the French services will equip themselves with it quite quickly ...
